ICGI-2000 is the fifth in a series of successful biennial international conferences on the area of grammatical inference.

Grammatical inference has been extensively addressed by researchers in information theory, automata theory, language acquisition, computational linguistics, machine learning, pattern recognition, computational learning theory and neural networks.

The colloquium welcomes all contributions on algorithms and models for grammar induction, theoretical and experimental analysis of methods, new perspectives on the problem and, specially, demonstrated or potential applications of grammatical inference. The objective is to bring together researchers in the above mentioned fields, as well as researchers from any other related fields.

Previous editions of this meeting were held in Essex, U.K.; Alicante, Spain; Montpellier, France; and Ames, Iowa, USA.
